Today we say goodbye to our former Executive Director, Brittany Mathis. While we are sad to see her go, we are so grateful for the time we’ve had to transition from her to our new ED Jeanell Marvin. Brittany has been such an asset to the Friends of the Library and we are excited to see all the things she will accomplish. Best of luck Brittany, and welcome Mrs. Marvin!
Meet Jeanell Marvin:
The Charleston Friends of the Library are pleased to announce Jeanell Marvin as its new Executive Director. Starting June 17, Jeanell will continue the Friends’ ongoing efforts to support the wonderful programs, classes, activities, and events that make our Charleston County Public Library system outstanding.
“I am beyond excited to embark on a new journey as Executive Director of CFOL,” said Jeanell Marvin. “I’ve witnessed firsthand the benefits of having a public library that goes above and beyond to meet the needs of its community members by way of literary programs, book sales, countless resources, and much more. I am thrilled that I get to be a part of a team that is dedicated to doing just that.”
Marvin is a former school teacher of nine years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Charleston Southern University and obtained a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Although a Bronx native, Jeanell and her husband are happily raising their four children near Charleston where they love living just close enough to the beach. When not spending time with family and friends, Jeanell can almost always be found nose-deep in a book or browsing the shelves of her favorite place in the world-the library.
