Jeanell Marvin is a former school teacher of nine years. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Charleston Southern University and obtained a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Although a Bronx native, Jeanell and her husband are happily raising their four children near Charleston where they love living just close enough to the beach. When not spending time with family and friends, Jeanell can almost always be found nose-deep in a book or browsing the shelves of her favorite place in the world – the library. Jeanell has always found libraries to be a safe haven and truly believes in the world-changing power of books. With a heart for community and a passion for reading, Jeanell is dedicated to serving as the Executive Director of Charleston Friends of the Library and helping the non-profit fulfill its mission of serving the communities and libraries of Charleston County.
